Lima, Peru: 8th February 2010

Today we mooched around Miraflores waiting for the wind to pick up. Why? Because we were going paragliding!

Paragliding is like Sky diving, as you’re attached to a parachute, but instead of jumping out of a plane, you fly off a cliff – and Lima has cliffs all along its coastline.

So we walked along to a cliff-side park and met our ‘tandem jumpers’ – there was no way we were going to take off on our own!

We’d both been expecting an adrenalin filled experience, so were really surprised by just how lovely and gentle the flight was – and how amazing – not only did we fly by the cliffs and the sea, but we rose up and flew over the city - over skyscrapers - and next to huge residential blocks where you could look straight into people’s living room windows – loads of fun!

We were up in the air for 15 minutes and it really felt like we were floating, or soaring like a bird – just so relaxing. At one point I told the chap that I was attached to that it felt like being a Commodore. When I mentioned this to Matt later he collapsed in hysterics and pointed out that I meant to say Condor.

Hmm, that’s right…It didn’t feel like a 70’s funk/soul band, but more like an Andean breed of Eagle! Hey- ho, I’m Once, Twice, Three times a numpty!
