Cuzco, Peru: 12th Feb 10
Today we flew from Lima to Cusco, which is the oldest inhabited city in South America. It was once the capital of the Inca Empire and is surrounded by beautiful hills and mountains, and lots of Inca ruins.
Much of the City is built on Inca ruins, so you can walk along the streets and see Inca walls with colonial buildings popped on top!
After arriving we headed to the main square which is fabulous - it houses a cathedral and massive church on 2 of the sides – the other sides consist of beautiful colonial buildings with a slightly Moorish feel.
Most of those buildings are now cafes and bars and they have balconies looking out over the square – great for people watching!
