Mekong Cruise, Lao to Thailand: 2nd – 3rd Dec 09

For the past 2 days we’ve continued our trip up the Mekong. The river really is beautiful, surrounded by jungles and enormous limestone mountains. Because it’s the dry season the water level is low and we can see lots of sand banks and dramatic rock formations above the water – in the wet season these are all submerged.

We stopped off yesterday at a very pretty Lao Long tribal village, and today at another Khamu village, both very sweet. In both villages the children were fascinated by us and followed us around giggling.

This evening we reached the border and crossed over to Thailand where we’ll spend the next 5 weeks!
