After several power cuts last night the typhoon finally disappeared and we went to survey the damage in town. Luckily everything is intact, although the river has swelled considerably and some areas of the town are under several inches of water. The locals don’t seem to mind though, they find it amusing to get in their boats and row themselves over what were streets yesterday! We spent the day looking at the bits of the old town that we hadn’t seen yet. So we visited an old merchant’s house, a Chinese meeting hall, a temple and a small museum. The weather is still fairly minging so we spent a good portion of the day in our hotel reading our books, which was nice.
